I'm going for abdominal hysterectomy (vertical incision) in a few days and would like to reduce scarring and general recovery time.  I'm told I shouldn't use any creams, lotions, powders before surgery (after my shower in the morning).  Would it help if I put wheatgrass on my abdomen the evening before surgery?  I expect to have a large bandage over the site and wonder also if putting on wheatgrass cream around the edges would be of any benefit.  Once I have access to the scar, how often should I apply it?  Any advice would be appreciated.  Lee

Dear Lee,
If you apply the wheatgrass cream three times daily prior to the operation, this will assist the surgeon by reducing bleeding, swelling and inflammation near the incision and help prevent wound infection. I can vouch for this as no patients operated on in my surgery has ever had a post-operative wound infection since I began using wheatgrass in 1995.

After the operation, apply the cream around the dressing as this will assist wound healing and help reduce scarring.

Kind regards,
Dr. Chris Reynolds.

Hello,

How many days prior to surgery should the cream be applied?

Thank you for asking. I should have mentioned that.
I suggest once daily application commencing one week prior to surgery and for 10 to 14 days afterwards even if the wound heals in the meantime. There is still a lot of healing to do underneath any surgical incision that simply takes time, but wheatgrass facilitates this.

Kind regards,
Dr. Chris Reynolds.

Hi Lee, maybe you want to try drinking it too, maybe you won't need the surgery after all.

Blessings,

Hi Dr Chris,

In regards to healing a scar post surgery, how often and how long for should wheatgrass cream be applied directly to the scar for?

Thanks

As I've mentioned above, it's best to apply any of the wheatgrass topicals over the area to be incised every day for a week prior to the operation. Then continue daily either directly on the scar or around it if inaccessible for at least three weeks afterwards. If inflammation persists, continue until it has faded.

Kind regards,

Dr. Chris Reynolds.
